Annual Report 2022-23

Report

August 30, 2023

In her 2022-23 annual report, the Commissioner highlights:

  • Around 2.4 million people experience domestic abuse each year in England and Wales.
  • Access to support is uneven, creating a “postcode lottery” in services across regions.
  • Significant gaps exist in counselling, children’s support, and perpetrator programmes.
  • Marginalised groups (including migrant, Black and minoritised, and male survivors) face greater barriers to help.
  • There are systemic issues in policing and family courts, affecting victim safety and outcomes.

The report calls for consistent national standards, better funding, and stronger multi-agency coordination to improve support.
